The Guadalajaran Couchsurfing community is quite an active bunch. There are language groups that meet weekly (one for each I speak), lots of posts about road trips to Tequila or Puerto Vallarta or other destinations close by, and a weekly meet-up to just hang out at a bar in El Centro.
This week's took place at Peter Brown, located on the corner of Pedro Madrona y Calle Colonias. Having grown up in a Mexican family, I left my hostel right as the meet-up was supposed to start, as I have often been the only person at an event for the first 10-15 minutes waiting for the organizer to show up. This group might be trying to quell that stereotype, as a good group of 10 people were sitting around a table in the back chatting about their week.
The woman on the left, Ka, was our fearless organizer. Greeting everyone as they showed up with hearty kisses on the cheeks, she was often busy texting with visitors trying to make their way to us.
Handy signs announcing the group were located on the tables and on the restaurant sign outside, which I forgot to get a picture of. Snack trays were dutifully kept full as people enjoyed their 2x38 viernes cervesas especiales.
By the time I had to head out to get a good night's rest for class in the morning, the group had grown and more tables had to be pulled in. Can you spot your fearless author among the blurry participants?
