A Karaoke Tribute to David Bowie

My home neighborhood in Seattle is Capitol Hill, an historic home for the weirdos and freaks of the world. (Some may argue this is changing, and such is the nature of life, but there are still quite a few of us keeping the faith.)
The death of David Bowie hit us hard and almost immediately, people were organizing gatherings to celebrate the life of a man who shared his life with us. When I saw a call go out on Capitol Hill Seattle for Waking the Alien- David Bowie Singing Celebration at my #1 karaoke bar, The Crescent, I couldn't stay away.
Join us as we give thanks for being alive at the same time as The Great White Duke.

Allison and Lola started watching the Lazarus music video while doing their make-up and had to stop, becoming transfixed for 4 minutes, remembering the man and his amazingness.

Jake and Chad decided to mourn by taking a shot at every Bowie themed event on the Hill. They asked themselves, how would Bowie have liked to be remembered? An epic bar crawl being fabulous was obviously the answer.

Kate, killing it at Cat People.

Jake, giving us some Modern Love

Marty, telling us about The Man Who Sold The World

Celia and Viv, some young Americans, singing Young American

Billy is the fabulous Starman who put the call out to gather. Style- on point.

Tammy, sending out love with Starman

Duckie, fully embodying Bowie, it was like a possessed man singing Space Oddity

Beth, becoming Ziggy Stardust

Loren, with the most affecting performance of the night, asking us all the question we were asking ourselves since we heard the news- Where Are We Now?
With such an earnest and affecting performance, a few tears shed, I decided my evening could come to a close. Thanks to the Crescent crew, who called in the reserves to help the community come out on a Monday night.
